Phil Kirby stars to reappear at Wetherby
Trainer Phil Kirby is currently looking forward to watching his two celebrities Top Ville Ben along with Lady Buttons kick off their campaigns on Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby.
Leading Ville Ben is a double winner over fences in the West Yorkshire circuit and is being targeted at the Charlie Hall Chase itself, with rounded off his rookie campaign with an outstanding attempt to finish third behind Topofthegame and Lostintranslation .
The commendable Lady Buttons has won 12 races for Kirby and will be set to bidding for a fourth victory at Wetherby in the OLBG.com Mares’ Hurdle – a race she won last year and finished second in supporting La Bague Au Roi in 2017.
Kirby told Sky Sports Racing:”They’re both doing a lot of cantering. They wouldn’t be a thousand miles off, although no speedy work has been done by them however. They seem very well and they’ll both be aimed in the Charlie Hall meeting.
“Top Ville Ben will operate at the Charlie Hall and Lady Buttons will won in the Listed race she won this past year. Everything has gone perfectly to program so much, we’ve just got to keep it like that.
“Buttons will perform a very similar thing to continue season – she’ll start off at Wetherby, then possibly visit Newbury and go to Doncaster for all those Listed races along with the big prize-money. We are going to see where we end up at the season’s close.
“For Top Ville, the plan was always to go to the Charlie Hall to begin with. We’ll see how he gets , but if he is competitive, he could always head to Newbury for the Hennessy (Ladbrokes Trophy).”
