Nicolas Pepe withdraws from Ivory Coast squad to work on fitness with Arsenal
Arsenal forward Nicolas Pepe has retreated from the Ivory Coast group to perform on his fitness in London.
It is known the 24-year-old does not have an injury and will return to prepare for its forthcoming Premier League fixtures.
Pepe did spend a short time along with his squad but both Arsenal and the federation agreed it was best that he didn’t feature in the friendlies from Benin and Tunisia.
The 24-year-old joined Arsenal to get a club-record # 72m commission in August out of Lille but was late to join up at the summer, at which Ivory Coast reached the quarter-finals.
Pepe made his Premier League debut from the bench on the launching day of this entire year together with his start coming from the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool until his first taste of the north London derby ended in a 2-2 draw with Tottenham.
He is yet to start his Premier League account, but will hope to rectify this at Arsenal game away in Watford on September 15, live on Sky Sports Premier League.
